Good review of Comment Hut

Posted on January 8th, 2007 in Blogging, Site Reviews | 3 Comments »

I recently had a post about using a program called Comment Hut to create backlinks. It is a great way to promote your blog. Remember, one of the keys to making money on your blog is getting traffic, and this will help you get both referral and organic (search engine) traffic.

Stuart from Earners Blog was given a copy of the full version of Comment Hut to try out and he just wrote a nice review of the program highlighting some of its best features.

Suddenly, Adsense video ads everywhere

Posted on January 6th, 2007 in Adsense | 7 Comments »

As some of you may have seen a while back, Google’s Adsense added a new way to earn revenue through their contextual advertising, video ads. So apparently these ads have been available to publishers on adsense since May of ‘06. But I cannot say that I have ever seen the ads used on a site.

Suddenly, I have seen the video ads show up on three different blogs in the last fifteen minutes or so. Does anyone know why these are showing up all of a sudden? Could it be that three different bloggers decided to allow video ads on their site within a few hours of each other, after the program has been around for over 6 months? Not likely.

So what’s the deal?

Learn some basic HTML

Posted on January 5th, 2007 in Design | No Comments »

With today’s blogging platforms like Blogger.com’s Blogspot, Wordpress, and others, it is now easier than ever to start a blog with very little knowledge of basic webdesign and HTML (Hyper Text Markup Language). Any successful blogger, however, will tell you that it is absolutely necessary to have at least some knowledge in HTML.

With that said, here is a great site that will teach you the basics of HTML, HTML 4 Beginners. You should be able to go through every page there fairly quickly. After reading through the site, you should be able to pick apart most sites written exclussively in HTML and can learn from their designs.

My affiliate program pledge

Posted on January 3rd, 2007 in Blog Updates, Scams | 1 Comment »

After reading several different blogs and forum posts, I am convinced of the revenue potential from affiliate marketing. If you are interested in getting paid for doing very little work, affiliates are the secret. With the right affiliate program, and the right referrals, you can get paid from all of their work. Sounds perfect, right?

Well not quite. All affiliate programs are not created equal. While each of them offer some sort of incentive to refer users, some are not worth the trouble.

Recently, I have been looking into several different affiliate programs — hoping to find a gem. I have found a few that I think are very promising, Agloco, Performancing, and RevenuePilot (I plan to further discuss each of these programs’ pro’s and con’s in the future). I have also found a couple that are a waste of time and are much more hassle than they are worth.

With that said, I would like to make a pledge to you, the readers of RevenueQuest. I will not promote an affiliate program that I do not feel is fair and legitimate. All programs you see promoted here will be ones that I believe are worth a look at.

Blog post update on Calculus and Physics: Learn from the past AP tests: 2000

Posted on January 3rd, 2007 in Blogging | No Comments »

I found a great resource for my Calculus and Physics blog. Using this resource, I have started a series of posts that will hopefully be able to bring readers back for more.

Learn from the past AP tests: 2000

In other news, I have earned my first bit of revenue off of my Student-Athletes blog. I have a suspicion why my first click came yesterday, and I’ll share it with you if I can confirm the suspicion. It’s not much, but my days of $0 are over.
