Why Networking Pays Off – Reason #1

Friday, January 30th, 2009

In my 2009 goals, I said that I wanted to start networking more with other people involved in the affiliate marketing industry. Today, I have reason #1 why it has helped to network.

So one of my friends recently got an email from a senior member of the Facebook advertising team. The email was sent because Facebook wants my buddy to spend more money with them. Using this new hook-up, my buddy asked if my Facebook daily budget could be bumped (It is currently at $250 and I have hit that several times). Within 5 minutes, I get an email saying, “We recently increased the daily spend limit on your Facebook Ads account to $5,000.00.”

Nice! Now I better go spend some money on Facebook… and get my credit card limit raised while I am at it.

Who do you give your referral to?

Saturday, June 7th, 2008

Nearly every affiliate network out there has a referral program that allows you to earn a percentage (usually) of your referrals income. We all know the revenue potential with these referral systems. Everyone dreams of referring the next super affiliate and making a few grand a month off of them. Awh… the beauty of residual income. If it were only that easy.

But how easy is it to get someone to sign up through your referral link. That all depends on you, the people that read the plethora of affiliate marketing blogs out there.

Say a blogger starts raving about this new network he just started using. This is the first place you have heard of this network, but you aren’t convinced that you really need one more affiliate manager begging for more traffic. After reading a few other blogs and forums, you read more and more about this network. It’s getting so much attention that you think, “I gotta check this out.”

Here’s the question: Do you go to the original blogger that first told you about the network and sign up with his referral link or do you just go straight to the network and bypass the referral?

Personally, I like to support the blogs that I enjoy reading. In the past, I have gone back to a blog just to find his referral link so he will get credit for me. After all, he did REFER me to the network originally.

Go Offline to Make Money Online

Wednesday, May 28th, 2008

This post is guest written by AffiliateTips.com, a great place to find affiliate programs and get started with your affiliate marketing.

Since affiliate marketing is an online business most affiliate marketers only do their promotion on the Internet. Of course, you should be visible and work on your marketing online, but offline marketing could be just as important if you want to make money as an affiliate. One of the best reasons for offline marketing is that it’s extremely affordable which means that there isn’t really any reason to not check it out.

You shouldn’t restrict your business to only one area – expand to the offline market to get noticed by as many potential customers/referrals as possible. Offline marketing can increase your brand awareness, make you a trusted affiliate and in the end also increase your monthly earnings.

Why Should You Consider Offline Marketing?

Sure, your affiliate business is only available on the Internet and it’s easy to assume that you should focus all of your energy on this forum. Online advertising is the way to go if you want to be successful, right? Yes and no… One should never forget that many potential customers may never see your online promotions. In using offline marketing you increase the possibilities in making money as you will reach a wider crowd that might be interested in having a look at your affiliate marketing site.

If you don’t believe us you should have a look around at the websites that use offline marketing. As you’ll probably notice there are some hugely successful online companies that are also promoting offline. They all know the potential in working this way. The offline market is huge and it’s there for the taking. Try for example to pin point where the people you want to visit your site are and add posts on bulletins at places they visit.

What Are The Benefits?

Many of the traditional offline marketing forums are very expensive, think radio and television, and you want to stay away from these. There are many other solutions that are perfect for affiliates that are free. This could become a great complement to your now existing online promotions and efforts within marketing.

The other thing we would like to mention as a reason to why you should get involved with offline marketing is that it’s a way to gain in trust among customers and potential referrals. There is still an issue among online shoppers that they feel as if they don’t trust many of the online companies. If you can add some trustworthiness to your site you’ll have a great advantage to your competitors.

Now you might ask yourself how offline marketing helps building this trust that we’ve been talking about. Online shoppers are more likely to trust a website that they’ve seen in elsewhere. In using offline marketing you can increase your profits through driving more traffic to your affiliate marketing site. Try it and you won’t regret it!

AffSpy the end of Affiliate Networks?

Tuesday, May 27th, 2008

AffSpy is a new affiliate marketing tool that is still in beta. It allows users to search many different affiliate networks in search for the highest payout for a specific offer. So say you search for the VistaPrint offer, you will likely get results from every network and can compare each network’s payout. This allows you to run VistaPrint on the network that currently has the highest payout.

What’s in it for us?

Competition almost always helps consumers, and that is the case here. A product like this could really help out publishers. It will cut down on the time we spend looking through our networks for the highest payouts and best landing pages. With so many networks out there now, it would take a very long time to look through them all without using a tool like AffSpy.

Why could this hurt the affiliate networks?

Because of the growing number of affiliate networks these days, the increased competition has decreased their margins. Many publishers today tell their affiliate managers that they can run the same offer at another network for $x more. Sometimes, these publishers are lying to their affiliate managers in hope for a pay increase they may not deserve.

Now with AffSpy, it will make it even easier for a publisher to see where the highest payout is. Networks are going to have to cut their margins more if they want to stay competitive.

Obviously AffSpy isn’t really going to be the end of affiliate networks, but if the tool becomes very popular, I see it having a huge impact on the affiliate networks. I think the big networks will be the ones most hurt and the little guys just starting up will see the biggest benefits. There will probably be a bigger emphasis on exclusive offers because those offers will eliminate all of the impacts of AffSpy.

What do you think about AffSpy?

Finals are OVER!

Wednesday, May 7th, 2008

Wow, what a relief. Finals are finally over. I had three exams today and I am pretty spent. This semester I had some pretty difficult classes (Mechanics of Materials, Differential Equations, Dynamics, and Thermodynamics were the tough ones). Now I’m looking forward to some solid time just affiliate marketing and running.

Some updates on the affiliate marketing front…

I was running some good volume through Facebook last week and I was seeing great margins. Unfortunately, NeverBlueAds had to drop my payout from $1.60 to $.60 because the advertiser said my traffic wasn’t converting. I told my affiliate manager that I understood. I don’t want the advertisers to lose money when using these affiliate networks because it is bad for the industry.

With that said, I spotted that same advertiser the next day running a copy of my ad on Facebook. I know a lot of people on Facebook are copying ads already and it’s something you just have to live with. But that wasn’t what bothered me. What bothered me was that the advertiser said my traffic wasn’t good enough, but they are now running the same ad copy to the same demographic that I was running. That makes the advertiser look awful.

On a good note, I found an offer two days ago on Hydra that put me back over $100 profit yesterday. The margins aren’t quite as good as the last offer I was running, but as Farmer Hoggett says in Babe, “That’ll do, pig. That’ll do.”
