Personal Blog

Saturday, April 18th, 2009

So I finally decided to create my own, personal blog: RunPD.com. I will mainly post about my athletic career there and keep RevenueQuest more professional/affiliate marketing oriented.

Speaking of affiliate marketing, now is a good time to fill you in on where I am at. School has been as busy as ever and affiliate marketing is very limited these days. Currently, I am not running any PPC campaigns and the only traffic I am getting to my offer pages is via search engines. This would be great if the volume was there, but it isn’t.

Like the last few summers, I should have some time to put into affiliate marketing and get something going again…

2008 Recap

Friday, January 2nd, 2009

Keeping with the current theme of this blog — tardiness — I give to you the 2008 Recap post.

Last year’s recap post began with me evaluating my performance based on the goals I set the previous year. I decided to call it a draw as I met one out of the two goals I set for myself. Lets see how I did this year…

  1. 100 RSS Feed Readers – This one is almost comical as my counter tends to hover around 7 with a standard deviation of about 1. The simple reason for this failure is that I don’t get enough traffic to the blog. More in depth reasons would be no promotion or advertising of this blog, infrequent posting… Failure
  2. Sign up for more networks - I definitely succeeded here. But to be honest, how difficult is that?… Success
  3. Break $100 in a day – I am really proud to have finally broken this barrier. What a wonderful day May 2nd most have been for me… Success
  4. Have $15,000 in the bank – It looks like I am slightly shy of this one if I just count liquid assets. Since that is what I meant when I made the goal… Failure
  5. Organize the categories - Happy to say that I got around to doing this. There are still a lot of them, but I think they are all appropriate… Success

3/5 isn’t bad.

January

I think I wrote two of my most popular posts in January. They doing well with organic traffic and have a few links from other bloggers… How to track keywords with Adwords and How to track keywords with Yahoo! Search Marketing

April

I started doing some PPC again and set some new records. Everyday is a new record

May

May was the first time I started making, what I consider to be, decent money. With the money came better and more frequent posts.

I began doing monthly affiliate income reports.

First $100 profit day (as I previously mentioned), I spent $4.69 for gas, Adwords site placement tracking, and I had my first guest post.

June

May affiliate income report$200 profit day, and I started following the stock market (but didn’t jump in… thank God), I hit $500 in revenue, I went to my second undie run, and I went to Italy.

July

June affiliate income report

September

I saw the end… July affiliate income report.

2 Year Anniversary

Monday, December 15th, 2008

Revenuequest.net is now 2 years old. Exactly two years ago today, I wrote my first post. This blog started out with kind of an experiment to see if I could make money on the internet by only spending 15 minutes/day. That quickly ended and the blog turned into another one of those make-money-online blogs. I like to think over these two years I have offered some helpful information to readers. Maybe some people even made some money off of these tips.

I think an anniversary post is a great time to update you all on what I am up to. Another semester at school has ended, so I am back home running, relaxing, and trying to learn some Danish (via Rosetta Stone… I think it is a pretty good program). This four-week break from school should allow me to delve into the affiliate marketing game once again. To be honest, I am way behind and I hardly have a clue about what is hot right now and what has since withered away.

Anyway, maybe I’ll be able to get back on it and start to write helpful posts once again.

Happy Holidays!

Contact Me

Saturday, January 5th, 2008

I finally got around to adding a contact me page on RevenueQuest. I thought it was silly that I have been adding contact pages to my landing pages, yet I didn’t have one on my blog available to my readers.

So now you can go to the page a shoot me an e-mail or IM.

2007 Recap

Sunday, December 30th, 2007

It seems making a recap post of the year is the thing to do right now in the blogosphere. Who am I to break the trend?

I started this blog just over a year ago. As 2007 rolled around, I set two goals for myself.

  • To earn $10 a day by the end of the year
  • To average at least one post a week on every blog I have

The first goal was met at some points in the year, but I am currently not earning $10 a day consistently. From all of my online endeavors, I did average more than $10 a day (or $3,650 for the year). That really wasn’t my goal, so I would say I failed at that one.

The second goal was certainly met on this blog. Despite my hiatuses every now and again, this is my 95th post on RevenueQuest and my 82nd of 2007. I have some other blogspot blogs that I basically ditched when I realized there was almost no money to be made with them.

I’d say I went 1 for 2 on my 2007 goals. More important than achieving those goals however, I can see that I have learned a lot in a year. For one, I understand and respect affiliate marketing a lot more than I used to. I was under the impression that most affiliate marketers don’t put in much work (Beach Bum) and that simply is not the case. I also have learned that I spend way too much time on this blog talking about things I am thinking about doing or eluding to posts that never get done. It reminds me of all those Hollywood star shows like Access Hollywood and Extra that spend most of the show telling their audience what they are going to be telling them after the break instead of just saying it.

January

I got pissed off at one of those affiliate programs like Cash Crate and made an affiliate program pledge. Ironically, the “legit” programs I mention in that post have all gone under or I am not using anymore. Oh well, I had good intentions.

While surfing the ‘net one night, I noticed Google Adsense video ads seemed to be showing up all over the place. By “all over the place” I mean three blogs.

I came up with three ideas for creating a new blog. I think this was my most informative post up until that point.

February

I was starting to lose hope in Agloco. Why did it take them so long to get that viewbar out?

Bidvertiser met its match with my most popular post to date (according to the Wordpress plug in Popularity Contest)… Please avoid Bidvertiser

AdBrite launched a video platform and then we never heard of it again.

I started reading Earnersblog.

I found my first #1 keyword on Google.

I listened to the search engines and wrote about how RevenuePilot works.

March

If Digital Point forums traffic is good enough for Shoemoney, it is good enough for me.

April

Finals must have been fast approaching…

RevenueQuest homepage reached a page rank of two.

AuctionAds exploded.

I got an ACTUAL JOB! And it was in the Industry.

I started using PayPal’s money market fund. This works nicely with Yahoo! Publisher Network’s new $50 payment option.

June

PayPerPost rejected me.

YPN began smart pricing. Probably the nail in the coffin for many publishers that had bad experience with YPN.

Matt Coddington sold Net Business Blog for $50k. I think the quality of posts are still great.

I started using Azoogle to promote ringtones. I made a few bucks and learned a lot.

July

I wrote about an easy way to increase your Alexa ranking.

I started using Shopping.com’s API.

August

Google launches Adsense-Maps advertisements.

Some things to remember when updating to a new Wordpress theme.

September

I knew it was going to be a tough semester…

October

I got back into the affiliate thing and set new records.

Some tips on using Zip submits. Probably my most in depth and lengthy post.

BelowABuck. Remember Shoemoney’s little launch of that site? There is a nice timeline of how they did it in less than three hours of work.

Now and always in Alexa’s top 1-million.

John Chow launches TTZ Media just as I was making some progress on my Shopping.com ad.

Finally got into PayPerPost. Still no requests for a review. :(

Google is going to pass up Yahoo! on Alexa soon.

November

Finals were just around the corner…

December

My first $100 in a month with one affiliate network.

I will have 2008 goals soon.

Buy a Post for $5

Tuesday, October 23rd, 2007

I have finally jumped on the bandwagon and will be utilizing PayPerPost Direct. Currently, I am only charging $5. I will likely bump that up after I get a few requests, so make sure you are one of the first to buy one.

Why would a post about your site on RevenueQuest?

Currently, RevenueQuest is a PR 2 blog. I am not one to post more than once a day, so your paid review would be on the front page for over one week. This means Google will have no trouble finding the link to your site on my front page.

A paid review pretty much guarantees you that every person that reads the post will take a peak at your site. RevenueQuest doesn’t currently receive an overabundance of traffic, but it is on the rise (my Alexa is now up to 732,826 with the weekly numbers hovering around 300k).

Plus, what’s $5, right?
