“A-Lister” doesn’t have time for me

Thursday, August 16th, 2007

For those of you who are following along, I e-mailed an “A-List” blogger a couple of weeks ago regarding the Shopping.com API. I said I would let you guys know how that went. Well, I still haven’t been e-mailed back. I understand that he probably gets a lot of e-mails everyday, but why bother putting up a “contact me” form if you aren’t going to reply?

Not all bloggers are this way. A few months ago, I e-mailed Darren Rowse at Problogger and he got back to me in a timely fashion. I would wager that he is just about as busy as any blogger out there. After all, he is the pro blogger. Also check out Tyler Cruz. He likes to answer e-mails.

Becoming number one with strange keywords

Sunday, June 17th, 2007

In my last post I noted that I got some traffic for the search query “facebook azoogle” via Google. At the time of the posting, I was ranked ninth for that query. Now I am number one!

So how did I become number one for this term?

I checked my Google Analytics and I noticed I was getting organic traffic from Google from the search “facebook azoogle.” Once I had those keywords identified, I included them in my next post. This was the bump I needed to get above the fold and into the number one spot.

Now this query is probably not searched very often, but I will continue this technique and see what results it brings. This technique also gives you some material to write about if you don’t have any ideas.

A 120 word post increased profits 550%

Wednesday, June 6th, 2007

Over at Daily Blog Tips, Stephen made a case study regarding a post he made back in December and how it raised his Adsense profits 550% in April. The profit spike came from ranking well in search engines using various SEO tactics.
It is a very interesting read and Stephen does a great job telling us what he, and the readers, can learn from it. I definitely recommend it.

Net Business Blog sold for $50k

Tuesday, June 5th, 2007

Over at Net Business Blog, founder and previous owner Matt Coddington sold the blog to Adrian Cooke for, apparently, $50,000. Not bad for a blog started less than six month ago with less than 200 posts! I myself didn’t start this blog till December of 2006 (Net Business Blog began toward the end of January). Too bad I didn’t post more… maybe I could be well on my way to a six figure income like Mr. Mathew Coddington.
Cooke plans to pickĀ up where Coddington left off. You can read Cooke’s first post on Net Business Blog.

Viralinking?

Friday, June 1st, 2007

I was just going through my RSS reader, and I noticed a post on Mindables about increasing your Technorati ranking. He says it works, so I’ll give it a try.

Viralink

Below is a matrix of 120 stars, I have already added a link to my blog onto one of the stars, all you need to do is copy and paste the grid into your blog and add your own link to one of the other spare stars, and tell others to do the same!

New Addition: When I receive a ping back once you have added the Viralink to your site I will add your link to this grid, and each person who copies the grid from here will also link to your site!

A free “best selling” ebook?

Wednesday, May 30th, 2007

Well I’m not sure how it is possible, but John Chow managed to create a “best selling” ebook (in one day no less!)… that he gave out for free. I’m no publisher, and frankly I don’t think Mr. Chow is either, but I would assume the number one criteria of a “best selling” book (or ebook) is its mass quantity of… sales.

Needless to say, it’s a great idea. You can read about how he is making money with [his] ebook. Basically, with all of the books FREE downloads, he is getting an enormous amount of traffic. Also, embedded in the ebook, you will find several affiliate links where he of course is generating revenue with sign-ups.

As Mr. Chow says, “how evil.”
